The human mind is geared toward negativity and pessimism. To think the opposite is somewhat contrary to natural thinking. Years of negative conditioning have brought this genetic defect into the forefront.
I know there are those people that always see the silver lining and always smile, shrug their shoulders, and move forward.
You will choose to do this or you won’t.
The next characteristic of a Christian is also a choice.
Persecution of the early church seemed to be non-stop. The Jewish religious leaders were determined to end this so-called heresy. They could not stand the fact the disciples were performing indisputable miracles and preaching in the name of Jesus.
They arrested them and put them in the common prison with thieves and murderers.
…and when they had called for the apostles and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
So [the apostles] departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. Acts 5:40-41
Here is the next characteristic of a Christian – we rejoice in all things.
A Christian should keep a positive outlook about everything. To think otherwise is to doubt the power of the word of God and His promises.
Things may not go the way you believe but when you place yourself under the Lordship of Jesus, then things will go the best way for you. God is always present with you, even when it seems it’s the darkest times of your life.
Instead of bickering and complaining about everything – choose rejoicing.
