Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thess 5:16-18
It’s Thanksgiving Day.
It’s a day that many eat turkey, dressing (or stuffing), green bean casserole, yams, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie.
It’s a day of football or Christmas movies.
It’s a day of gathering together with the family.
And it’s a day of giving thanks.
Why isn’t the last one first?
It becomes first when you treat each day as a thanksgiving day!
The scripture gives insight in how that happens.
You need to start everything with rejoicing! Praise Him for all that He has done. Praise Him for Who He is! Worship Him as God and Savior.
Give up on griping and complaining. People that complain don’t have a lot of problems. They have problems because they complain!
Instead of complaining – REJOICE!
Pray without ceasing,
Praying without the rejoicing is just a list of things you want from God.
However, when you pray after rejoicing it transforms your prayer into a thanksgiving to God.
Your prayers are not to influence God, but to change who you are!
In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
No matter what happens, you need to rejoice, pray, and give thanks in everything!
I want to leave you with something Charles Spurgeon said.
“I think that is a better thing than thanksgiving: thanks-living. How is this to be done? By a general cheerfulness of manner, by an obedience to the command of Him by whose mercy we live, by a perpetual, constant delighting of ourselves in the Lord, and by a submission of our desires to His will.” ~Charles Spurgeon
What a great idea – Thanks-Living!
