Ps 33:4 For the word of the Lord is right, and all His work is done in truth.
I believe the Bible study went well last night. It was eye-opening and often a bit humorous at some of the teaching comments on the Bible.
Much of the erroneous teaching was unbelievably off center from the Bible.
For instance I read three different accounts about the birth of Cain.
One said he and Abel were twins.
Another said he was born a twin with a girl while Abel was born a triplet with two girls. That teaching goes on to say that Abel later married one of the sisters born with him.
Another says Cain was the son of the serpent.
One guy preached a sermon in 1958 and claimed the serpent was the missing link that scientist could not find. He walked upright like a man and was ten feet tall. But when God cursed him and transformed him from a walking biped to a crawling reptile.
This is the reason he’s the missing link.
It doesn’t stop there. The mark that God set upon Cain (Gen 4:15), one commentator said that God gave Cain a dog to protect him – the mark was a dog!
It’s nothing but trouble when you start speculating and changing the word of God by taking away from it or adding to it.
I’ll admit that I often offer my opinion but I always state it as so.
I can be wrong in my opinion but I’m never, never wrong when I just read and preach God’s word. The word of the Lord is right!
Prov 30:5-6 Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.
