If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:6-7
Let’s say its midnight on the Farm-to-Market road in front of my house. I decide to go for a walk.
It’s really dark here in the country. No street lights line the road. Security lights are few and far between and massive trees and foliage obscure any beams of light from those lights.
I may know where the road is located and there is enough ambient light from the stars to see the expanse of the pavement and the fields to either side.
But for me to say, “I can see where I’m going” would not be the truth. I am walking in darkness and will not see a copperhead lying across the warmth of the road in the cool of the night.
I could easily step near enough for the snake to strike out at me.
Therefore, if I am going to walk on the FM in front of my home – I do it in the daylight!
Walking in the light is safer than walking in the dark. Even when you walk in the dark you try to have something that illuminates your way like a flashlight or the light from your cell phone.
Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12
If you are going to walk around this dark world you need the Light – Jesus. Only He keeps you from stepping near the serpent of darkness.
