While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Cor 4:18
Yesterday I commented on the past, present, and future. The only sure thing is the past. The only changeable thing is the present and the only unfulfilled is the future.
Now I want you to consider what is seen and not seen.
Everything you see around you is only temporary.
Living in East Texas I often have the privilege of seeing forest land clear, revealing an old structure – sometimes a house or barn.
I wonder about those that built and lived there. They probably thought of raising children to take over and keep the family farm going.
Now it sits vacant and unseen from years of trees and vegetation growing unhampered.
I could say the same about many businesses that opened and closed.
Long range plans often change. If you can see it – it’s temporary.
God is unseen, though you see His handiwork of creation. God is unseen because He is eternal.
Heaven and hell, both unseen since both are eternal also.
My salvation is unseen because it is eternal too.
You might live past a hundred and experience and see many wonderful things. It’s all temporary. All those years pale in comparison to eternity. When you accept Jesus as your Savior today, you change your future for tomorrow and all eternity.
