Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:1-3
I think many trouble themselves with errant thoughts. They dwell on the end, whether it’s December 21, 2012 (remember that?) or September 23, 2017.
I’ll add today because it is Yom Teruah – the Feast of Trumpets (shofar) – and the day I believe Jesus will return to fulfill with His appearing.
Do not misunderstand! I am not saying Jesus will return today!
I am saying He will return on a Yom Teruah, whether it’s this year, next year, or the next, I do not know.
I’m not troubled about it either. I cannot make Him come and I cannot prevent Him coming. He will come when the Father says all things are ready.
Meanwhile, back on planet Earth, many others are troubled.
A brief glimpse of the day would reveal someone troubled by this current hurricane, while some others still recover from the past two. People in Mexico City are troubled by this latest earthquake. Somewhere in a small country, a family is troubled with finding something to eat today. A woman lies chained to a bedpost, troubled by her kidnappers and captors as she’s forced into a life of slavery. Many Japanese awakens to troubling thoughts of what North Korea does next in its missile program. In the ICU of the local hospital, a dad and mom stand troubled at the sight of their daughter fighting for her life after an accident.
I realize there are many things to trouble us here and now. Let not your heart be troubled by the Second Coming of Jesus. He has it all taken care of and the time after.
It’s all prepared!
