And he asked for a writing tablet, and wrote, saying, “His name is John.” So they all marveled. Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue loosed, and he spoke, praising God. Luke 1:63-64
Zacharias’ unbelief led to him becoming mute. He could not understand how he and his wife could bear children at their age. This cost him the ability to speak for at least nine months.
The child was born and the parents brought him for circumcision. Friends and neighbors just knew the baby would get his father’s name – Zacharias, Jr.
The mother told them call him John. Thinking this was silly, they asked Zacharias, who wrote the name John.
Doubt never gives you reason to praise. It gives you reason to complain. It brings depression and regret.
Doubt leads to disobedience.
I have never heard anyone say, “Praise God! I’m so glad I doubted Him and was disobedient!”
When you are obedient to God will for your life, His blessing pours out on you, and you praise Him! He opens your mouth and looses your tongue to praise!
