Memorable Scripture: Where are you?

Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” Gen 3:9

God is omniscient! That is, He’s all-knowing. So why would He ask Adam about his location if He already knew the answer?
Well, God is all knowing but you aren’t. Neither was Adam.

To me, the question is not so much about Adam’s location as it is about Adam’s condition. God needs him to realize where he is in his relationship with God.
Adam knew he sinned when he disobeyed God and ate the fruit. Adam did not know the true nature of the sinful condition he posed on himself.
It forever changed him. He is condemned to die.
Adam must realize that he is a sinner in need of salvation.

Where are you?
Are you still completely lost in sin and hiding from God?
The Father wants you to realize where you are and what you are doing.
He wants to help you; to cleanse you from the result of sin and set things right for you.

Perhaps you are a Christian. Where are you?
Are you found in His service? Are you found in His fellowship?
Will He find you reading your Bible and in prayer?
Where are you?

  1. I am thankful that even the saints can ask Jesus to come into their hearts again. They can be baptized again & again if their hearts are so moved. It’s a public sign of their love for Jesus. Often I have wondered what it would be like to live in a world without the knowledge of good & evil. What will happen to that knowing once we’re with Him in heaven? It would be so nice to not have that awfulness in my head. Perhaps our joy will just over whelm us & that stuff will be put so far back into our heads we wont thing of it.
