Memorable Scripture: Impatience shows lack of faith in God and leads to disaster.

So Sarai said to Abram, “See now, the Lord has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her.” And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai. Gen 16:2

This was a mistake on the part of Abram and Sarai. It has caused the nation of Israel problems since.
God promised Abram that his descendants would inherit the land. You cannot have descendants if you do not have children.

Tired of not having a child, Sarai concocts a plan to start a family. She decides to acquire a child by her husband and servant girl.
Strange that Abram did not object any intimacy with a younger female.
Dreamed up by Sarai and accepted by Abram this scheme ends up rejected by God. God has a plan of His own and takes fourteen more years to bring it about through the birth of Isaac.

Sarai said the Lord restrained her from bearing children but it was the Lord that blessed her with children, while Sarai’s impatience caused problems for her future child.
Impatience shows lack of faith in God and leads to disaster.

God never gave specifics. He never told the couple, “Your will have children when you are a hundred years old!”
Doing that keeps Abraham from walking by faith.
God’s promise is not time specific but still a promise – “To your descendants I will give this land.” Gen 12:7

Can you wait on God? Or do you come up with your own scheme to move progress forward.

Many times people jump into relationships, buy homes, or get a job without ever consulting God’s will. Good things come to those that wait.
Remember, impatience shows lack of faith in God and leads to disaster.

  1. That truth does prove it’s self time & again. Also the importance of not forsaking the gathering of our selves together. There is wisdom of experience and a willingness to share if asked. Now & again I get ahead of God. And a dear sister will tell me I’m like a race horse to excited to wait. I love the freedom she has with me & the sweet way she put things. When others trust me enough to open their hearts & share just draws me closer to the Lord. Thank you Tim for your consistence with Morning Thoughts.
