Harsh times fell upon Israel. The priests were corrupt with no respect for the Lord’s offering (1 Samuel 2: 12-17) and often committing adultery before the Lord. (1 Samuel 2:22)
No wonder the word of the Lord was rare. There was no one to give it and no one to listen.
Would you listen to a preacher that took his first share of the offering and seduced the women?
The Bible does say that the two sons of Eli “did not know the Lord. 1 Samuel 2:12.
The first revelation a person needs is knowing they need the Lord!
You hear about how you need His forgiveness and grace but you must accept it too.
It’s easier to accept the Lord when you see Him working in the lives of others – molding and shaping them from a life of sin to an enriched life of service.
I’ll admit the “sons of Eli” live and fill many pulpits or television screens – ministers that do not know the Lord.
However, there are also many genuine good and godly men and women hearing from God and honestly sharing the Good News of Jesus.
