For my days are but a breath. Job 7:16
I believe life begins at conception, although the new life is not self-sustaining for nine months when the baby takes that first breath.
From that time forward, a person is always one breath away from death.
At the creation of man, God breathed into him the breath of life. Breath gives you life.
Throughout the entire book of Job, breathe is mentioned several times.
A few includes:
Job 7:7 Oh, remember that my life is a breath!
Job 14:10 But man dies and is laid away; Indeed he breathes his last and where is he?
Job 19:17 My breath is offensive to my wife,
Job 27:3-4 As long as my breath is in me, And the breath of God in my nostrils, My lips will not speak wickedness, Nor my tongue utter deceit.
Job 32:8 But there is a spirit in man, And the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding.
You do not need the Bible to tell you the importance of your breath; just hold it for as long as you can!
However, you need the Bible to tell you how important your breath is in relation to God.
David wrote in the Psalms, Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Ps 150:6
Jesus breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. John 20:22
With every breath, you should live and breathe for God.
