But how can a man be righteous before God? Job 9:2
Job said a mouthful!
Is there a way for anyone to be righteous before God?
I actually believe there is but by the time you figure it out it’s too late.
The only way is to live without sin.
I realized it a little too late for myself.
My sin is not limited to my actions but also includes my thoughts.
“How then can I answer Him and choose my words to reason with Him? For though I were righteous, I could not answer Him; I would beg mercy of my Judge.” Job 9:14-15
Though I were righteous, my own mouth would condemn me; Though I were blameless, it would prove me perverse. Job 9:20
I had someone once tell me that he and God were okay with each other. He told me that when he dies he’ll sit down with God over a beer and they’ll discuss things and everything will turn out ok.
I agree with Job instead. To stand in the presence of an all-holy God will place us on our faces before Him.
Isaiah reports we are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; Isa 64:6
So, back to Job’s first question – how can a man be righteous before God? You must be free of sin. There is a way and it is the ONLY way!
Many verses support this but I choose this one from 1 John 1:7 – the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
