Memorable Scripture: It begins with reverence.

Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,
But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

It’s a great way to begin Proverbs, which is a book of wisdom and instruction.
The meaning of fear is not equal to frightened or scared. It is reverence.
Adonai is the Hebrew word most translated as “lord” but in this case it is YHVH, which translate to the holy name of God.
There is no doubt. It is the reverence for YHVH that begins your knowledge – a knowledge that never ends.
I have studied the Bible for forty-three years and this past week I had a personal revelation of the meaning of a verse.
My personal knowledge continues to increase.

On the backside of this verse – it is foolish to ignore the wisdom and instruction of God’s word.
The word for fool does not translate to silly or ignorant. It is correct to say a morally perverse person.
This person views Godly discipline and personal application of the Bible as insignificant, thus this person is immoral.

That is not to say that some that do not believe in the Bible or follow it are not morally good people. But morally good people do not make it to heaven but only those trusting Jesus as Savior.
