Proverbs 3:9-10
Honor the Lord with your possessions,
And with the firstfruits of all your increase;
So your barns will be filled with plenty,
And your vats will overflow with new wine.
This morning I saw something in this verse for the first time – honor God with your possessions. That’s with the things I already own. That’s my possessions!
I should honor the Lord with my truck, my tractor, my camera, my house, my land – with everything I own.
How do I honor Him with my truck? Perhaps by daily thanking God for my truck and blessing it. I should use my truck for God’s glory. That doesn’t mean I need to donate it to missionaries in Somalia but to use it to honor Him by driving and behaving like a Christian.
Ouch!
My other possessions should follow suit. I ashamed to say it doesn’t always happen.
I should honor God with my increase. And I do – the firstfruits, right off the top.
God is faithful and blesses you so your barns and vats are full and overflowing. In an agrarian society that was a very big deal.
I hope and pray I honored God with one of my possessions this morning – my computer. I used it to share these thoughts with you today!
