Proverbs 10:12
Hatred stirs up strife,
But love covers all sins.
A great truth from the wisdom of Solomon.
All of us have seen the acts of hatred around the world and here in America. It definitely stirs up strife and has senselessly cost many lives.
I can disagree with you without hating you and trying to kill you. I can disagree with what you do and call it sinful but that does not mean I hate you or want to kill you.
It is because of my love for you that I do mention sin. My desire is for your salvation not your destruction.
My love does not cover your sin or overlook it. It drives me to pray for you.
I know parents can overlook the sin of their children because of their love for them. But their love does not cover that sin, instead their love overlooks it and even makes excuses to others because of it.
However, in defense of those parents, they hope to see the repentance of their child.
Remember, Jesus tells of a dad that divided his inheritance early to his rebellious son because he loved him. He, too, hoped for the repentant return of his son.
Jesus does not overlook sin and only He can cover it but it took the high price of His own blood, as it says in Revelation 1:5.
Covering your sin is not automatic. Just because He loves you enough to die for you does not mean He loves you enough to overlook your sin or cover it without an commitment from you.
You must accept His way of salvation and His change for your life.
This is the way His love covers the multitude of your sins.
Above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8
