Proverbs 7:13-14
So she caught him and kissed him;
With an impudent face she said to him:
“I have peace offerings with me;
Today I have paid my vows.”
In the Book of Revelation Chapter 17 you find the Great Harlot, which many believe is some type of religious order or church system.
I thought the same thing about the harlot of Proverbs 7.
False religion entices you away from truth and faithfulness to God, like a harlot uses lies and deceit to lure you away from the faithfulness of marriage or celibacy.
Like this harlot in Proverbs, the false church kisses up to you and flatters you.
The harlot says to him she paid her peace offerings, that is, she paid her religious vows and brought home her portion as prescribed by the Law.
It’s all perfectly legal and she offers to share her religious offerings with him.
All in all, she seems very devout.
But her house is the way to hell, descending to the chambers of death. Proverbs 7:27
And so it false religion.
