Proverbs 21:9
Better to dwell in a corner of a housetop,
Than in a house shared with a contentious woman.
I learned this verse several years ago. One of my church members quoted it as such, “better to live in the attic than share the house with a nagging wife.”
It was a clue to the health of his marriage.
Indeed, I witnessed his wife “shut him down” many times as he tried to give a testimony about the Lord as if she were embarrassed. He became an attic dweller and the end result is the marriage did not last.
No one wants contention around them, whether from a wife or husband. You don’t want it from your parents or neighbors either.
Personally, Linda and I desire peace. When we live for the Lord, we have peace between us because Jesus told us, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you;” John 14:27
When people behave, respect others, and strive to get along, then you have peace.
Selfishness, arrogance, jealousy, and envy lead to harsh words and strife.
I declare my happiness to share the house with my wife. I only go into the attic to run electrical wiring or the such.
