Proverbs 22:1
A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches,
Loving favor rather than silver and gold.
You know people with a good name and when you hear it you think pleasant thoughts. Perhaps the person is friendly or giving. Maybe the person always smiles or volunteers to help others.
Your name identifies you more than just with words. Your name carries with it feelings others associate with you.
Admiration, trust, honor, love, fear, hate, disgust, and avoidance are just a few feelings you associate with others when you hear their name. The same is true for you.
I would rather people have good thoughts and feelings when they hear my name but I want them to associate Jesus with me.
I’m sure there are some that would say bad things about me and there’s no amount of money I can own to change that.
I would hope that when you hear my name you think Christian, man of God, Bible-knowledge, helps others, and things like that. There’s no amount of money to buy those thoughts.
A good name makes you rich!
