Isaiah 11:6-8
“The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb,
The leopard shall lie down with the young goat,
The calf and the young lion and the fatling together;
And a little child shall lead them.
The cow and the bear shall graze;
Their young ones shall lie down together;
And the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
The nursing child shall play by the cobra’s hole,
And the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper’s den.”
This scripture visualizes the peace and comforts the Messiah brings at a future time by contrasting a predator with the prey.
Notice that both are led by a human, the only being created in the image of the Creator.
Not only a human being but a child.
I find this significant because the child is not an adult.
Adults can think and reason. Most adults would think it a bad idea to get together with a wolf and lamb, a leopard and goat, a calf and lion, or play over a den of cobras.
It’s because adults are conditioned that way as children.
“Don’t touch that frog. It’ll give you warts!”
“All snakes are bad. Kill one if you see it.”
“Those people aren’t like us.”
“Don’t speak to people like that.”
Yes, we teach bias, prejudice, hatred, and racism to children, who carry it into adulthood.
The Messiah will abolish all these things. He certainly set aside those things as He ate with tax-collectors, talked with Samaritans, healed lepers, and allowed a prostitute to wash His feet.
Jesus said, “Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” Mark 10:15
Child like faith in Jesus is the way to remove prejudice and get everyone together.
The peace in Christ also gives you a life of more peace and less stress.
