Memorable Scripture: Defilement

Ezekiel 4:12
“And you shall eat it as barley cakes; and bake it using fuel of human waste in their sight.”

God told Ezekiel to build a model of Jerusalem and lie on each side as a siege against it.
Then God told him to take some grains and make and eat bread cooked over human waste – again as an object lesson to the Jews.
Ezekiel refused citing “I have never defiled myself from my youth till now; I have never eaten what died of itself or was torn by beasts, nor has abominable flesh ever come into my mouth.” Ezekiel 4:14
I can relate to Ezekiel. I’m picky about drinking and eating after others. I’m particular about how long food sits out.
God knew the idea repulsed Ezekiel and allowed him to cook over cow dung instead.

It may not seem like a big deal but God cares about how you feel. He’s not going to let you get away with blatant sin.
However, Ezekiel is not asking to get away with sin. Quite the opposite. He’s asking for deliverance from defilement.

Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are. 1 Cor 3:16-17

Ask God and He will deliver you from what defiles you.
