Obadiah 1:1
The vision of Obadiah.

I have no memory of any scripture in Obadiah. I read it – it’s only 21 verses – but nothing stuck out.
I don’t think I’ve ever preached from the prophets writing.
Obadiah’s name means Servant of Yahweh.
His prophecy is about the sibling rivalry between Esau and Jacob or Edom and Israel.
It seems Edom did nothing to stop the invasion of Israel and actually helped it along – Obadiah 1:11 When foreigners entered his gates and cast lots for Jerusalem—even you were as one of them.
The people of Edom were not safe from judgment even though they lived in the high clefts of rocks and mountains. (vs 3)
God promises deliverance for His people – Obadiah 1:17-18 “But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. The house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame; but the house of Esau shall be stubble; they shall kindle them and devour them, and no survivor shall remain of the house of Esau,” For the Lord has spoken.

Stand against God and you will fail and perish, but the faithful are delivered.
