Jonah 1:12
And he said to them, “Pick me up and throw me into the sea; then the sea will become calm for you. For I know that this great tempest is because of me.”
“Just let me die!”
That’s what Jonah is thinking. By being tossed overboard, he is leaving himself susceptible to hypothermia, dehydration, ocean predators, or drowning.
Jonah is basically committing suicide. He’d rather die than do God’s bidding.
Even the men on the boat try to save him with an attempt to row back to land.
They fail.
Think about this, many people do not want to do God’s will. They’d rather die.
God’s will is for everyone to receive salvation through Jesus Christ.
Those that refuse eventually get their wish and experience the second death in a lake of fire.
There are many people, like the sailors, trying to prevent that from happening.
We pray.
We talk and share the Gospel.
We plead.
Some heed.
Some do not.
Do your part and share the Gospel.
Yes, we are all called to witness
