Matthew 4:18-20
And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” They immediately left their nets and followed Him.
If someone I knew dropped by work and said, “I need you to follow me”, I would probably follow them.
A stranger is another story.
So why did these men stop fishing and follow Jesus?
Peter, Andrew, James, and John (VSS. 21-22) were previously introduced to Jesus (John 1:35-43). They knew Him.
I’m not sure they knew this was a lifelong, life-changing opportunity. You know there is more to the conversation.
Here’s the thought for today – people need an introduction to Jesus before they will follow Him.
That introduction comes through the way we (Christians) act and what we say.
The introduction continues as we share verbally share the Gospel.
There are many that do not know Jesus. They may know the Bible speaks of Him or He was a good man, but they do not know He is the Savior of the world and the only Way!
Plant a seed by introducing someone to Jesus today.
Perhaps that seed will sprout into a lifelong, life-changing salvation for them.
