Memorable Scripture: Straight and Narrow

Matthew 7:13-14
“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

This verse is very memorable. I’ve heard the expression “straight and narrow way” all my life. It’s usually an expression for someone that has changed their ways.
It goes further than that!
Indeed, the Way of salvation is very narrow. It is only through Jesus Christ.
Many other ways exist that do not lead to salvation. There is only one Jesus but there are many religions, ideas, and philosophies.
Paul faced this in Athens at Areopagus (Mar’s Hill) in Acts 17.
How many ways lead away from eternal life – infinite! It’s very broad.
How many ways lead to eternal life – only One. It’s very narrow.
That’s just finding the Way.
Once you find it, your life narrows too.
What can you do as a sinner? Many things. It’s very broad.
Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like. Gal 5:19-21
What should you do as a follower of Christ? Few things. It’s very narrow.
Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Gal 5:22-23
