“Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”
This is about as political as Jesus became during His ministry, this one is about paying taxes.
As we head into an election year, politics is a hot topic.
No one ever asked Jesus the questions we need answered today.
Is it a woman’s basic right to abort a baby?
Is gay marriage lawful?
Where should we restrict prayer and the handing out of Bibles or religious literature?
What do you think about the death penalty?
How do you feel about immigration, the 2nd Amendment, Separation of church and state, racism, socialism, capitalism, or communism?
I can give answers to these questions according to my interpretation of scripture but then it would be just my interpretation of scripture.
What I can say is Jesus came to give love and life. He gave forgiveness to those committing sin but encouraged them to sin no more.
I think He would be disappointed with today’s politics and religion, including many identifying as Christian churches.
Something Jesus said in today’s scripture should be taken to heart in all things – render to God the things that are God’s.
