Acts 2:15
For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day.
I remember this scripture because it was the first time I paid attention to the time of day.
I wondered what the “third hour” translated as, surely not three in the morning.
So, I went to a source of knowledge – a Bible dictionary.
Nine in the morning wasn’t much better. I mean, I can understand someone drinking later in the day and becoming intoxicated by three in the afternoon or nine in the evening.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m sure there are those drunk by 9 a.m. but not these men and women. You never read in any Gospel where Peter, James, John, or even Judas Iscariot were intoxicated.
It just goes to show you that people will make up a rumor about you when they don’t understand the situation or don’t want to understand it .
Were the apostles slurring their speech and staggering as they walked?
Just the opposite. They clearly and concisely spoke in understandable languages and told about the marvelous works of God.
Live your life in such a way that it makes null and void any rumors from your adversaries.
Good advice for anyone. No matter what their job or life is like.
