Acts 5:3-5
But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”
Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things.
It started when one church member sold some land and brought the proceeds to the apostles.
More and more did it, including Ananias and his wife, Sapphira. Only they connived to keep back a portion but tell everyone they gave it all.
Their lie wasn’t directed toward the apostles but toward God.
You cannot lie to God and get away with it.
You cannot pretend salvation.
You cannot imitate morality.
You cannot act as a virtuous person and get away with it.
As much as it would hurt, the church could use some of this Godly judgment upon it.
The end result being great fear comes upon all; a respectful, Godly fear.
Don’t allow Satan to fill your heart.
Allow the Holy Spirit to fill your heart, mind, soul, and strength.
Allow God to use you for His glory rather than you using yourself for yours!
