Memorable Scripture: Which spirit do you have?

Acts 16:16-19
Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” And this she did for many days.
But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And he came out that very hour. But when her masters saw that their hope of profit was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to the authorities.

So what is so wrong about proclaiming the way of salvation?
It’s one thing to proclaim it as a matter of testimony.
It’s quite another to proclaim it as a matter of public proclamation.
I proclaim Jesus as the way, truth, and life because of what He has done in my life and the life I live for Him.
This young girl did it by a spirit of divination, not by proclamation of what Jesus did personally in her young life.
It sounds great to have the devil to proclaim Jesus is Lord.
But the devil and his demons are liars and speak from their own resources.
Paul could not let this continue and he freed the girl, in Jesus’ name.
Now she can proclaim her own testimony of the power of Christ in her life.
However, others who did not care about the girl, but only cared about a profit, stirred up trouble against Paul and Silas.
If you are going to proclaim Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then you need to have experienced His saving, life-changing grace for yourself.
So decide which spirit you want. A spirit of divination or the Holy Spirit!
