Acts 18:24
Now a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus.
A Jew named Apollos is quite ironic. Apollo was the name of a Roman god. He was born in Alexandria, Egypt, named after Alexander the Great. It’s a hedonistic city with a large population of Jews.
With the name of a Greek god, it’s possible his parents converted to Judaism.
Apollos speaks very well and is well versed in the scripture, I do not believe he knew Jesus as Messiah.
Two other disciples took him aside and explain the scriptures more excellently to him.
After that he vigorously refuted the Jews publicly, showing from the Scriptures that Jesus is the Christ. Acts 18:28
This is what every new believer needs, is someone to take them aside and explain the scripture and teach the way of God more accurately.
I know many, many took me aside to explain God’s word to me. I, in turn, do it for others.
However, I never stop learning from others and from my own studies.
I would hope what is said of Apollos is said of me someday – an eloquent man and might in the Scriptures.
