2 Corinthians 5:7
For we walk by faith, not by sight.
Can you walk around your home in complete darkness with your eyes closed?
If so, you do it by memory. You know the distance to the edge of the bed, the placement of the coffee table, and the location of the light switches.
But even when I get up in the middle of the night I “feel” my way by sight with a bit of ambient light here, the soft glow of a clock there – all to get my bearings as I maneuver around.
Most of us as Christians “feel” our way through our relationship with Christ in the same way. We “see” the things we need to keep going. Very few actually take a real step of faith and move beyond sight.
Great missionaries of the past often did it – traveling into uncivilized areas to deliver the Gospel of Jesus, where many loss their life doing it.
Assuredly, there are Christians that step out on faith without promise of success. However, success is the first step of faith.
I do not claim to always take that step of faith but I serve a God that understands my weaknesses and helps me through them.
