1 Timothy 2:9-10 in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, 10 but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works.
Men should pray lifting up holy hands.
The women are to dress modestly.
Why are these related?
So there are no distractions.
Church is not a fashion show and not a place to dress in a way that causes eyes to wander.
Men will always look at women but there is no reason to entice them to look.
Of course, if men would pray, lifting up holy hands, then their minds would be on serving the Lord not looking at the ladies.
And women should not distract other women with the braided hair or jewelry.
Just like dressing modestly I believe men and women can wear jewelry and hairstyles in a modest way.
Both men and women should live their lives in a way that professes godliness.
What about outside the church setting?
Should men continue to pray lifting up holy hands and women dress modestly?
Our lives should reflect the Savior at all times.
There are already too many distractions and temptations from person to person.
Please don’t become a distraction to others but become a blessing instead.
