Memorable Scripture: A little wine

1 Timothy 5:23 No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for your stomach’s sake and your frequent infirmities.

Here is a verse I remember well.
Now my grandmother made me drink a small glass of wine one day. I was feeling run down and my blood pressure was lower than normal.
She said, “It’ll build up your blood.”
I’ve never been much for wine or any other alcoholic beverage.
Wine does have some medicinal qualities, as is evident by Paul and my grandmother’s advise.
Paul cautions that church leadership should not be given to much wine. (1 Timothy 3:3)
I don’t care too much for the taste of wine or anything else.
I suffer from a few stomach ailments too but control mine by what I eat, how much I eat, and how fast I eat.
I dont’ take any meds and I’m not sure I could stomach the wine. I just don’t care for it.
Nevertheless, this is not a directive to use alcohol in excess or to get drunk.
It is a directive to a young pastor to take care of himself – use a little wine.
