Memorable Scripture: Contentment

1 Timothy 6:6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain.

You are resident in a discontented world.
It’s a race to get the next best and greatest product.
A new smart phone is scheduled to come out on Thursday and people will camp-out in front of the store beginning Monday.
I wonder what people wanted in the time of Paul, when he wrote this to Timothy.
I’m sure people have always wanted better housing and perhaps some servants.
Perhaps a faster horse, a new sword, and, of course, clothing and jewels.
Quite a far cry from all the discontented temptations of today.
I know I can easily get caught up in the latest electronic device.
Contentment is a great deterrent against temptation.
If you are content with your marriage then you won’t be tempted to stray.
I am content with all God wants to bless me with.
If he wants me to get a new vehicle, I am content to do so with His blessing.
The only thing I’m really not content with is my knowledge of the Bible, although I have studied it for over 40 years.
I want to extract every bit of knowledge and more effectively teach and minister to others.
Learning never ends.
