1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
I have heard this all my life, although it was mostly misquoted as “money is the root of all evil.”
Money is not evil but the love for it is – all kinds of evil.
What will people do to get money?
Lie, steal, cheat, exhort, kill, connive, conspire, or trample others to get the money they want.
How much money is enough?
Someone with no money might say a million dollars.
Someone with a million dollars might say ten million dollars.
Someone wit ten million might say a hundred million.
Greed is never satisfied and it causes the greedy person to pierce their own self with stress and worry over it.
God does not love the greedy and stingy. He loves a cheerful giver.
I’m reminded of something Jesus said, “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38
That’s not limited to just money but is applicable to many other ways to give.
Turn greed into giving.
