Memorable Scripture: Faith & Works

James 2:14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?

I’ve heard some say Paul and James were at odds with each other since Paul seemingly downplayed works.
Not really.
Paul said were are saved to do good works in Eph 2:8-10.
James demonstrates what it looks like.
It’s not enough to say to a cold and hungry person, “Be filled and be warm” but you must do something.
These good works we do are not for salvation but because of salvation, which is why James says, “Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” James 2:18
It doesn’t always involve feeding someone or handing out a blanket. Certainly, there are many people in need of basic comforts.
Your works may involve a smile, a bless you, paying it forward, of any number of things.
It must fit the need of the person involved.
Let the Holy Spirit lead you.
