James 2:19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!
This memorable scripture shows you two different beliefs.
It’s one thing to believe in God – to know He is.
It’s another thing to believe in God and live as though He is.
The demons all believe in God.
They all stood before Him and served Him as the angelic host until the iniquity of one was found in them.
During the life of Christ, the demons recognized Him even before people did.
So if someone tells you they believe in God, it is not enough.
I’ve asked many if they are saved and usually get a yes because they’ve been to church or was baptized as a kid.
Salvation gives change to life.
It’s not a belief of words but a belief of living for Christ.
This is why James is pointing out in this section that faith without works is dead.
