Memorable Scripture: The Knowledge

James 4:17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.

There was once a young man in my church that was always getting in trouble at school.
I told him all the time to ask himself a question before he did anything – Can I get in trouble for doing this?
If the answer is YES then don’t do it.
Everyone has the knowledge.
It is written in Gen 3:22 “the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil.”
You have the knowledge of good and evil.
You can answer the question with yes or no.
Those that steal know it’s wrong and know they can get in trouble if caught.
Their sinful need overwrites their reasoning to do what is right.
The time is coming when each person stands before God and gives an account of what they have done.
Many will justify their sinful behavior or compare their sin to the sin of others to make themselves look better.
Everyone is without excuse before God.
So what is required of us?
Mic 6:8
He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God? Mic 6:8
Now that we know to do that, if we don’t it is sin.
