1 Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.”
There was a daughter of some friends that was always getting in trouble.
She did drugs and was always in and out of jail, grieving the lives of her parents.
She would come home and, seemingly, clean up, all the while living off her parents.
This behavior happened over and over.
Other friends would advise her parents to forget her; to say, “No!” next time she wanted to come home.
She was called hopeless.
She was called trash.
Other than the parents, everyone else gave up on her.
The difference is the parents loved her. This was their daughter and their love looked beyond her sin and saw her need.
She eventually did get help.
She kicked the drug habit, fell in love, married, and has children of her own!
I imagine much of creation said to give up on me.
But Jesus loved me and would not give up or give in.
He came and gave His life for me, while I was still a sinner.
Eventually, I accepted His love and life for me.
Love covers a multitude of sins!
