3 John 1:11 …do not imitate what is evil, but what is good.
This is the only verse from 3 John that is in my memory but what a verse it is.
It is the perfect verse for a world of political correctness, peer pressure, politics, cutthroat business, and conformity.
It is also a world in which evil is lessened as evil and promoted as good.
Everyone knows what is evil but sin lets a person ignore it.
One example from recent history is Nazi Germany.
How can so many people be persuaded to kill others, including children?
Evil imitated evil!
Similarly, generations can imitate evil.
A child imitates the evil of a parent.
The parent, as a child, imitated the evil of his or her parent.
And it keeps going.
Someone has to stand up and say, “No! I will not do this!”
