Memorable Scripture: Christ

Revelation 1:17-18 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.

At the sight of Jesus, John fell down before Him, like a dead man.
I dare say, we all will.
I have heard a few people say, “When I get to heaven the first thing I’m going to do is hug my Jesus!”
A nice thought but I wonder if we won’t fall before Him instead and, then, He makes the first move.
I assume John was fearful because Jesus told him not to be afraid.
Yet, it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Heb 10:31
And why wouldn’t it?
Look at His self-description.
Once again He is “the First and the Last”.
He goes on to say, “I am He who lives” because He is the eternal God became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14), and being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross (Phil 2:8), but now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep (1 Cor 15:20).
He has keys – the power – over death and hell.
Hallelujah!
We now have full assurance in the Word of God to us.
We will reign with Him in glory because of what He said and Who He is!
