Revelation 3:15-16 I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
I love a cup of coffee in the morning, hot of course.
If I drink half and let the other half stand too long it becomes undesirable.
I would need to rewarm it to finish it.
Most everyone surely knows the Laodicean church.
Laodicea was sandwiched between two other cities – one with hot springs and the other with cool spring water.
This water sent to Laodicea via aqueduct became lukewarm by the time it arrived – neither refreshing nor therapeutic.
This final church of Revelation can easily represent the church of today or the very, very near future.
The next few verses cement that idea and we will explore it in the next few Morning Thoughts.
Sufficient to say, we need a revival in God’s people and a church that is on fire for the lost and the preaching of the Gospel.
Anything less makes the Lord sick.
