Revelation 3:17-18 Because you say, I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked — I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.
This is a description of a church that is too big for her own good.
I’m sure the people started with great intentions and preached the true Gospel of Christ. But somewhere along the way, something happened.
Perhaps the church grew massively and had to expand and build to handle the number of people attending.
Popularity often leads to pride and arrogance.
That is what happened to this church.
They became rich and self-sufficient and had need of nothing – including Jesus.
The message within the church changed from the Gospel to one of popularity and feel good.
Can you imagine a church that never preaches the Gospel?
Pay attention because it’s happening today.
There is hope for this church as Jesus says to be zealous and repent as He stands at the door and knocks.
