Revelation 6:12 I looked when He opened the sixth seal,
This sixth seal has always fascinated me.
The verse continues with an earthquake, darkening sun, blood moon, falling stars, wind, the sky receding, and mountains and islands moving.
In my opinion, all these things do not need to happen at once. Then again, if God wills it, they will.
It seems a darkening sun and blood moon mean an eclipse. But a solar and lunar eclipse cannot take place at the same time unless a third-party cosmic body is introduced; something foreign to the orbit of the earth but somehow tracks between the earth and sun. If large enough it could cause a solar and lunar eclipse. A frightening thought.
Earthquakes are nothing new but I get the idea this one is felt by more people and more devastating than any other in history.
Falling stars? A meteor shower? Or is it something worse? For years we’ve seen planet-killer asteroid movies, which plant the seed of “What if?” in our minds. Perhaps this is Hollywood’s worst nightmare come true.
For every mountain and island to move out of place would take a geological event. An earthquake that shifts the earth’s crust. Perhaps a shift of the earth on its axis, which would move the geological position in relation to what it is normally. All GPS navigation devices become useless as the shift of the planet causes coordinates to shift away from where they normally are. Planes, ships, automobiles, and geocachers would all be misdirected by their electronic devices.
It doesn’t seem any of this is possible because it never happened before.
There’s a first time for everything and this one is predicted by God.
Revelation 6:12-14 I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place.
