Memorable Scripture: Sin not Green

Revelation 16:8-9 Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and power was given to him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory.

I remember being at a relative’s house in East Texas and, for some reason, something about Revelation came up. This verse, or something like it, was tossed out and one of the adults said, “I’ve noticed the sun getting larger and the temperature getting hotter.”
I took it that larger meant closer. It scared me so much.
This scripture definitely looks like some sort of climate change is in store.
I guess I’ll get on my soapbox for a moment.
You hear a lot about climate change, also known as global warming or global cooling, depending on which way the harsh weather is going.
The climate change of Revelation may partially result from our use of the planet’s resources but ultimately it’s because of sin.
Not sin against the planet but sin against God.
The whole of the earth could go green, end carbon emissions, and become vegans, and sin will still exist and demand a reckoning.
Revelation will happen whether we go green or not.
