2 Kings 22:11 Now it happened, when the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, that he tore his clothes.
For over half a century the Book of the Law was not read.
It laid dormant in the Temple, which was used for ungodly worship and sacrifices for so many years.
It’s a blessing it wasn’t destroyed.
Then one day, the high priest found the Book and gave it to a scribe, who in turn, gave it to the king.
Typically, the Book of the Law would be that written by Moses – Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.
Or it could have been just one of them.
It was enough to cause the king deep remorse and regret.
He also realized they had not followed the Law.
Josiah reformed the nation by tearing down the pagan altars and worship and restoring the true worship of God.
Oh, that we would find the Book today and read it.
That the words would also cause us to have deep remorse and regret.
That our national leaders would truly repent and seek God.
That people everywhere would seek His face and turn from their wicked ways.
We would witness the hand of God healing our land.
