Open my heart

Acts 16:14 The Lord opened her heart…

A closed heart.
A closed mind.
Closed eyes.

God cannot do much with an attitude like that. That person has already said no! That person has shut God out.

What an awesome experience and feeling when you allow Jesus to open your heart.
God will flow into your life; He will change everything.
He makes all things new!

God can use the open heart – the heart that loves Him and desires more from Him.
The open heart seeks to do the Father’s will.
The open heart has compassion.
The open heart is merciful.
The open heart is forgiving.
The open heart sees God.

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You, I want to see You
To see You high and lifted up
Shinin’ in the light of Your glory
Pour out Your power and love
As we sing, “Holy, holy, holy”

Abba, open my heart more to you! YES&AMEN

It’s a matter of the Heart

Acts 2:37 Peter’s words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?”

I have wounded a few hearts.
I have cooked a few things that have given someone heartburn. Continue reading

Chained to Christ

chain2Philem 13 – I am in these chains for preaching the Good News
Eph 6:20 – I am in chains now, still preaching this message as God’s ambassador.
2 Tim 2:9 – because I preach this Good News, I am suffering and have been chained like a criminal. But the word of God cannot be chained. Continue reading

Sin kills – Confession heals

secret-sinYou spread out our sins before you — our secret sins — and you see them all. Ps 90:8

The couple wanted to join in like everybody else. Others were giving to the church to help the less fortunate. They wanted to help too. This husband and wife talked it over and decided to sell some property they owned. Continue reading

What do you want from Abba?

man praying in churchAnd now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word. Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness. Acts 4:29-31

Everyone wants to be filled with the Holy Spirit. I know I really enjoy it.
But what is the reason that you want to be filled with God’s Spirit?
Many just enjoy how it makes them feel. I know I really enjoy it!

But the early church did not ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit. They asked for boldness in preaching the word!
They also asked for healing power and miracles.
Still, it all started with asking for boldness to speak God’s word.

God responded with the filling of the Holy Spirit.

It reminds me of King Solomon.
That night the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream, and God said, “What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!” 1 Kings 3:5
Solomon could have asked for anything!
His response – Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. 1 Kings 3:9

It pleased God so much that He gave Solomon wisdom. He also gave him great fame and wealth.

There are a few things you must remember.

First, seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matt 6:33
And humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor. James 4:10

I am praying for brokenness and humility before God. I just want to serve Him. I want to be able to preach and teach God’s word with simplicity for everyone to understand. I want to lead more to Christ. It’s not about me. It’s about Christ.
As John the baptizer said, “He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.” John 3:30

Law of Moses 106 – A Christian Perspective

torahSo here is the question one of my youth asked, “Do we still have to follow the Law of Moses?”
That is an excellent question and a sensitive one.
I have Christian friends that I respect that follow Torah, which, for all practical purposes, is the Law of Moses. Torah actually means Law and often refers to the first five books of the Bible, all written by Moses. Continue reading

Walking Dead? (part 2)

dead in christThe graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many. Matt 27:52-53
The Bible isn’t specific as to how long this lasted. Continue reading

Easter?

chocolate bunny copyEaster.
To me the word means only one thing – the resurrection of Jesus.
Perhaps when I was young I may have associated it with colored eggs, baskets of green grass, and chocolate bunnies.
I still love boiled eggs but I can do without the coloring. Continue reading
