Hate, Love, and Bigotry

Hate evil, love good; Amos 5:15
What would you think of me if I saw a house burning and I knew there were people inside and I did nothing? I didn’t try to wake them up and warn them or call 911.
You would think very bad of me; Continue reading

The hem of Him

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments. Ps 133:1-2
Think about the unity of the oil and that is how the church should be. Continue reading

Repaired

On Friday an appliance repairman came to our house to do warranty work on the front-load washer.
This is the 3rd time a repairman has had to work on it and it’s been a different one each time.
This guy was really nice and thorough. Continue reading

Only a mother’s love

I remember a few years ago I was in San Augustine when I notice a bird’s nest underneath the courthouse pavilion. As I stared at it, wondering what kind of bird had built it; I saw something move from within the nest. I climbed atop a table and gazed into, what I can only describe as, the eyes of the most ugly bird I’ve ever seen. Continue reading

A Waste!

Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Ps 127:1
Yesterday I wrote about the old Aldridge Saw Mill.
Another place we visited was Caney Creek Park on Lake Sam Rayburn.
Many of the camping and boat ramp equipped parks on our nearby lake are closing more and more of the facilities, usually leaving just the boat ramp. Continue reading

Rumors vs Truth

Last Friday Linda texted me and said that the Broaddus school’s were on lock-down. What she heard and thus relayed to me was that the same man that had vandalized our church air-conditioners was out on bond and at it again. Continue reading

Remembering

My dad died almost a year ago. Yesterday I received the news that the only surviving sibling, my Uncle Fridolph, passed away.
He was one of nine children born to Charlie and Victoria Swanson.
I can’t help but be a little saddened as this side of the family has dwindled down to “us” cousins! Continue reading

Avoid a Fatal Accident

On the way home from our anniversary weekend, we were just south of Alto, Tx when I noticed the minivan that had been following me for the past 50 miles decided to speed pass me.
It wasn’t a big deal since we were on a 4-lane with a wide turning median. Continue reading

Birthday!

At last Job spoke, and he cursed the day of his birth. Job 3:1
That’s a pessimist; but I’m not in his situation, nor do I want to be.
I bless the day of my birth, which is today; well, at least the anniversary of it! Continue reading

Start The Day

I rise early, before the sun is up; I cry out for help and put my hope in your words. Ps 119:147
I love to spend time with God each day; reading His word and praying that it will stay in my heart and mind. Continue reading
