baby-shower-giftI ended up at a baby shower on Saturday.
Let me first say that the mom got lots of great things for the little one.
There were cute little dresses, diapers, ointments, socks, shoes, and room decorations.
Now let me say that I’m a man and it was a baby shower! Continue reading

broken-foot1I met a lady yesterday on crutches with a broken foot so I asked her what happened.
“Do you want the made up, embellished version or the truth?” she said.
I told her to start with the made up story.
She told of going to Montana for Christmas and skiing on the slopes. Continue reading

I notice a few days ago that Google Earth has done the street view for Lufkin and Nacogdoches.
You can virtually drive down every street in those two cities.
The same may have been done around the area you live. Continue reading

But Rehoboam spoke harshly to them, for he rejected the advice of the older counselors and followed the counsel of his younger advisers. 1 Kings 12:13-14 NLT Continue reading

andygillilandLast time I left you in some suspense with something that surprised me.
It was quite a shock the other night when I met an old phone man I used to work with.
We talked a bit about the ol’ gang and then he said something about a phoneman being killed just a week or two ago.
He couldn’t remember the man’s name but then he didn’t recognize me either.
But he said he was married to T. A’s daughter.
It hit me like a ton of bricks. Continue reading

open-bibleAs I was reading the Bible a bit this morning, I stopped on this verse; Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you. Mark 5:19
Jesus had just healed the man that had a legion of demons.
To have been isolated and alone while they tore him apart; to find no cure through modern medicine; and then to finally be at peace; what else could that man do but tell everyone what had been done for him. Continue reading

liarHere’s one for you.
A recent Christian radio talk show featuring a so-called Bible “expert”, who goes by the name The Bible Go-to Guy, says most of us are wrong about the divinity of Jesus because we misinterpret the Bible.
Another guest immediately went into a strong scriptural defense of Jesus in fact being God, citing the very first verse of the Gospel of John in the New Testament. Continue reading

thief-in-the-nightBut the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, 2 Peter 3:10
What would you do tomorrow if you knew that someone was going to break into your home and steal all you have?
You would probably stay home, armed to the teeth, and wait.
You might hide outside, wait for the intruder, and call the police on your cell phone. Continue reading

It’s funny how what is said and what is heard is often two different things.
I recall the time that I was preaching on the grace of God and had mentioned that salvation is by grace plus nothing else.
There is nothing we can do to earn God’s love, deserve His forgiveness, or get His salvation. Continue reading
