Just being neighborly.

I’m starting with scripture this morning.

And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?” Continue reading

You should be offended!

You’ll probably not see many more Confederate flags flying soon.

South Carolina will remove it from flying over the capitol building. Retail stores will probably stop carrying it on merchandise. Continue reading

Getting to know someone!

I remember many, many years ago a young man was going to appear in Livingston, Texas for a concert. A church has scheduled him to sing in the sanctuary. The young man wasn’t famous, at least I had never heard of him and I was in Christian radio at the time. Continue reading

King and Priest

2 Chron 26:18 They withstood King Uzziah, and said to him, “It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the Lord, but for the priests, the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense.”

The king did not listen and broke out in leprosy for the rest of his life.

What was the problem? Uzziah was the king, not the priest!

Ps 110:4 The Lord has sworn and will not relent, ‘You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.’

Melchizedek was also king of Salem and a priest of the Most High God.

This is the other unique characteristic of this dynamic individual and one that is shared by Jesus.

In the Old Testament, there were kings and there were priests – but they were never the same person. King Saul offered a sacrifice and the kingdom was taken from him and given to David.

There is only One that deserves to be both King and Priest – Jesus Christ. And it is from the example of Melchizedek.

Uzziah and Saul needed to be what God wanted them to be but they tried to assume a position that was not theirs.

You, also, need to be what God wants you to be. If He has called you to only to be in prison ministry then you don’t need to be a praise leader in a church.
If your calling has you as a missionary in Mexico, then what are you doing pastoring in North Dakota?

You need to be where God wants you – doing what He has equipped you!

Abba, make me what You want me to be and put me where You need me to be. In Jesus name, YES&AMEN

It was a new beginning for mankind. The old world was washed away and a fresh new start was ahead for Noah’s family.
One of the first things he did was build an altar and worship God. Continue reading

Sinful desires addressed.

lustA friend of mine sent me an article called “Gay People Don’t Go To Hell For Being Gay”. You can read it at that link.
My friend wanted to know what I thought.

I read the article and then sent my response. Then posted my response as today’s Morning Thought.(I apologize for any grammatical errors; I was writing in a hurry and on-the-fly!) Continue reading

The End of Sacrifice

no more sacrificeContinuing with yesterday’s thought on the sacrificial death of Jesus and the forgiveness of your sins.
I quoted 1 John 1:9 at the end of the blog – If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness.

The word “all” only means one thing to me and that is ALL! Continue reading
