The Un-Dead

Morning thoughts from Pastor Tim

Good Morning!
This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

It’s Halloween!
A time for many to dress up in costumes resembling all kinds of things that most of us would deem as scary, evil, or wicked.
Children will run in such costumes from house to house begging to get a gift of candy or some other sweet treat.
Many will watch scary movies that will keep them on the edge of their seat and raise their heart rate.
I remember as a child being scared of some Dracula-type vampire movie.
The old black and white version with Bela Lugosi doesn’t seem to be as scary or gory as the one that I saw.
I was only about 7 years old but the movies images implanted in my memory kept me in fear for years.
Yet whether created in 1931 or 2008, the story line remains the same.
The living dead or un-dead comes alive every night to seek out new prey and drink his/her blood.
This must be done before dawn, as sunlight will destroy the un-dead.
When he is discovered for what he is, some brave soul will courageously enter the lair of the un-dead and search for his daytime resting place so that he may be destroyed by driving a wooden stake in his heart.
Not a factor now that I know Jesus as my Savior.
He says, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.  I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.” Rev 1:17-18
Jesus didn’t take but He gave His blood so that we may live.
Jesus didn’t kill but was killed with nails in His hands and feet.
There was no need to drive a stake through His heart because He died of a broken heart.
Jesus was put in a grave, hidden from sunlight, only to resurrect on the third day, never to be killed again.
He now searches for us to give us the gift of the forgiveness of sin and eternal life.
Not a factor because Jesus is the real Un-Dead!
